I have been absolutely awful at posting, I know! I've had a couple of ideas, but they just didn't work out.

Anyways, a week ago Michelle Obama, the wife of the democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama, co-hosted The View. One of the topics that came up of coarse was how the wives of the Democratic and Republican nominees dressed. Mrs. Obama said she had gotten her dress at the chain-store "White House Black Market" and all of a sudden the stores were selling out of the dress incredibly quickly! It seems she really has quite an influence on women, especially since the dress was about $150, which is much more affordable than the Oscar de la Renta wardrobe of Mrs. McCain. And Michelle's accidental advertisement of the store brought attention to the designer of the affordable dress, Donna Ricco.

I checked out her website and she really does seem like one talented desinger. Her designs are simple and sophisticated while still having quirky cuts.

Her clothes are very beautiful and they do have the classic first-lady look. I can see why Michelle Obama loves her designs!

As for me, I really like the way Mrs. Obama dresses, it's classic while still being fun.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Though it may amaze some of you, I've just seen Breakfast at Tiffany's for the very first time! I don't know what has been keeping me from seeing the classic for so long, but at least I've finally gotten around to it. I thought it was quite a pleasant movie. Audrey Hepburn played, Holly, who was one wild character and her bluntness and care-free atitude absolutely amazed me. Though I believe my favorite character was the cat!

The opening seen was probably one of the best seens, and I thought it was delightful. I immediantly understood the title "Breakfast at Tiffany's."

Third Summer Post

Yay! More posts! Oh, and I do hope to get more creative names for these summer posts.

LOOKS OF THIS PAST WEEK:

I'm not sure what to make of Mischa's outfit. Though the pieces are nice no doubt and I feel like I've seen her in the white dress before.

This is Emmanuelle Chriqui. I have no idea who she is but I like her look at the Zohan premiere.

The off-screen and on-screen couple of Gossip Girl look awesome here. Though I recommend Badgley button up his shirt.

Kate Beckinsale was awarded as Film Actress of Glamour's Women of the Year Awards and she certainly dressed to impress. She looks beautiful and I love the color.

Hayden Panettiere in red, as usual, it defiantly seems to be a favorite color of hers. This is a different dress than she usually wears and I think she looks so cute in it.

I also love Hayden's look here, especially her t-shirt.

This is the speech after Obama clenched the Democratic presidential candidate nomination. I thought his wife looked so pretty in the purple dress with the belt. And they also shared the fist pound on stage which got a lot of attention, because it was so sweet! And more great news about them Michelle Obama is going to be a co-host on The View on Wednesday, June 18! I'm so excited!

And speaking of The View, if I had a photo I would have posted it, but I don't. Barbara Walters returned to The View after her book tour on Tuesday, and she looked beautiful! She wore a pale pink coat, and she looked great.

CFDA Fashion Awards

Carolina Herrera with Diane von Furstenberg, who is the president of CFDA (which I still don't know what it stands for).

Victoria Beckham ("Posh") with Marc Jacobs (while wearing him as well). The clothes Posh wears aren't so bad, but for some reasons they never look that great on her, maybe she's just too edgy.

Ashley Olsen went with her latest look of the pant suit, though this one is no where near the one she wore at the Sex and The City Premiere (below).

She looked amazing!

Kim Cattrall looked awesome, as expected.

I though Hillary looked so cute in this sparkling Micheal Kors dress. Very fun and age appropriate, though I didn't really get the snake-skin shoes.

Though both look a bit awkward in what they're wearing I don't think it matters for the both of them, I'll always love them.

Tina Fey again, with Tory Burch who was awarded best accessories designer.

Mandy Moore wore a beautiful Abaete gown.

Maggie Gyllenhaal (Proenza S.), Victoria Beckham (look at her half smile), and Eva Mendes awarded Francisco Costa (who designs for Calvin Klein) with the Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

After hearing this song on a Volvo (a car maker) commercial I fell so in love with it. The song is "I Adore You" by Melpomene. I tried describing the song to my friends but was unsuccessful.

I don't know if this is the actual video to it, but it's the best one I found.

Melpomene. Hmm, I wonder if that is his real name . . .

Also, Death Cab For Cutie has a new album, Narrow Stairs, that came out only a short time ago and though I've only listened to a few of the songs I have to say it is quite good! I so hope they stop by Atlanta for a show, that would be awesome.

Angelina Jolie looks so good on the cover of the July Vanity Fair. I think she looks really classic in this photo. I didn't know it but apparently Angelina gave birth to her twins in France.

And while on Vanity Fair.com I was looking through old covers of the magazine and found some really awesome ones.

One of my favorite artists is Gnarls Barkley and I didn't realize they had a new album out since April of 2008, it's called The Odd Couple. One of the songs on the album is "Going On," and I love it so much.

Summer!

Summer is here! My last day of school was today, and I am excited! It still hasn't totally set it that I won't have to go back to school for a while, but I'm sure It will settle in soon.
Lately a certain look has been popping up in my head, and I very much hope I could possibly find something like it.

THE LOOK:
Cardigan, with floral dress, awesome sandals, and an over the shoulder bag.

An Anna Sui Ruffle Dress. Not the best floral, but it still fits into the picture in my mind.

This is probably my most favorite floral dress, It's Stella McCartney. I'm in love!

A different kind of floral, but still, nice. Moschino Cheap & Chic

This is the Elizabeth and James "Petunia Dress." If I'm not mistaken this is the the line from Marky-Kate and Ashley Olsen. I've seen some of their pieces, and they're really quite nice, like this dress, especially the back of the dress (below).

Free People "Pretty Poppies" dress, and I agree, very pretty.

Another favorite of mine, this Kimichi and Blue "No Direction Home" dress. It also comes in a pale color, but I love the bold colors on this one, it looks so classic. Something I would have seen at a wedding.

Trying out . . . new things

My work load at school has become much lighter in the past week so I am trying to post more often. In my posts I'm trying out something new (hints the title of the post) and posting a bit more about celebrities, just because I love seeing it on other blogs, so why not try it out on my own! Here Goes . . .

With my extra time I was able to go to the movies and so last night I went and saw "Iron Man" which was surprisingly good!

And the lady who has been all over blogs lately, Gwyneth Paltrow was in the film. Gwyneth Paltrow seems very simple and even sometimes boring, but she's always so beautiful. And her acting jobs are quite diverse, which I like to see in an actress, rather than the kind that play the same part in a billion different films.

This is possibly my favorite photo of Gwyneth, she looks stunning here.

TELEVISION:
On the latest episode (Sandwich Day) of "30 Rock" I saw Tina Fey wearing this red dress and thought she looked amazing!

Then I saw Cameron Diaz wear what I'm pretty sure is the same dress at the premiere of "What Happens in Vegas", and she looks great, too.

But who wore it better?

Already thinking about winter . . .
I really liked the winter jacket Juno wore. I'm thinking it would be a nice fall/winter jacket for next year.

This girl on face hunter has a version of it, though I would want the jacket in the original red color, though the yellow doesn't look bad at all.

Link to the past:
Only 2-posts ago I showed mustard-colored tights from AA, and when I saw this girl on facehunter wearing them, I just fell even deeper in love with them. I think they look awesome!

I had this "ombre" dress from topshop in an older post, and was reminded about it when a friend commented on it. Sadly since we have no topshops in the U.S., it's hard to know if something will look right if we order from London. I saw this girl on face hunter, and was quite happy with how good it looks on! She wear's it winterized, but it could defiantly be worn as a summer look as well, and probably wouldn't be too hard to find a white version and tie-dye for those of us who don't want to order.

I haven't posted about an independent film in a while, but I have finally seen previews for one that looks WAY good.

The movies is called "THE WACKNESS."
I don't know much about it, except that it's based around a teenage drug dealer, and a therapist along with his daughter.

I heard about Wackness from a friend, and I also am way interested because Josh Peck, who turned out way better looking than anyone would have thought, is in it, and the title is neat, though I know the whole "don't judge a book by it's cover," I think it looks good. The trailer is below.

Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

It's been a very happy day, and I think it's because it's Earth Day. I was going to walk to school, but I had to go in early so couldn't. But there is good Earth friendly news -
The head of the Environmental Club has finally gotten back to me, and it seems like we've got an awesome project on our hands. Every year there's "The Taste of Alpharetta" were thousands of people gather on one street and try food, play, and whatever. The event has never done anything about recycling, but this year will, and it seems we will be in charge of it. I can't wait, it seems like a really cool project, and I will be very happy not to see trashcans over flowing with recyclable plastic bottles!

Also, this past weekend my family and I planted a bunch of vegetables. I planted more flowers, and while doing so I noticed my sunflowers are already growing, I'm way excited and I hope they grow to their full size (6ft-12ft)! Now I'm working on getting a compost pile together, which will be very cool.

First off, my blog list on the left side has shrunk considerably, because I went through the list of blogs I have on the left side and deleted many that hadn't posted in a number of months. Yes, Yes, I know, I've been the most awful person at posting, it's been over a month since my last post, but school is my first priority. Thankfully spring break started and since I am not going anywhere I have plenty of time to blog!

There are many things I would love to accomplish druing my spring break, and hopefully most of them can be accomplished.

1. Today is a cold, rainy, and dreary day, so I can't do much, but tomorrow it will be 75 degrees and sunny, perfect for me to start my garden! I've been wanting to start a garden for quite a while, but had no time. The first thing I would like to plant are sunflowers!

Oh, how they make me feel happy!

2. I'd also like to plant carrots. An odd choice I guess, but ever since I watched Alice and Wonderland, I have been wanting to plant carrots, I love that movie so much.

3. And with all of my free time I do plan on shopping quite a bit. There are a few things I'm looking for:

GLADIATOR SANDALS:
I have been admiring gladiator sandals for so long, now. I think they are the most versatile sandals.

My perfect pair is this pair on Michelle Williams.

SKIRTS:
I have so much winter clothes, and have worn them for quite a while, I think I'm ready to bring forward spring, and that calls for an updated wardrobe. Skirts are an essential for spring, I really am going to try to wear jeans less often.

long skirt:

I am in love with long, floor length skirts, even though they'll make me look so much shorter than I already am.

denim skirt:

This is one of my favorite denim pencil skirts I've seen, though it is sadly way out of my price range. Deborah Sweeney Arizona Skirt

This skirt seems a bit old, but I really love it, it's sweet and simple.

loose skirt:

OVERALLS: They may be lame, but I am so into wearing a pair!

DRESSES:

I've been really into the floral look lately.

I think the floral look would look great with an awesome pair of gladiator sandals. Now if only I could find a pair . . .

This is called the "ombre print dress." I don't know what ombre is, but I like the dress very much.

For school longer dresses would defiantly be less of a worry, especially when going up the stairs.

I showed this dress in yellow a while back, and I still love it, it's versatile as a dress or over jeans.

This free people dress is really nice.

4. Okay, so there's more to my break I'd like to do than shopping. I also love watching movies, and there have been some great movies that have come out and I haven't seen yet.

I have been dieing to see Be Kind Rewind. The plot is simple and fun, all the movies get erased, so they remake them, and it looks hilarious.

This film looks incredible, and I love the story.

"Smart People" with Ellen Page, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Dennis Quaid looks quite funny.

And although all these films look so good, I'm no fan of paying 10 bucks to see a movie, so instead I'll have to catch up on some that have already come out.

"Southern Belles" has been the film I need to see for a long time, and I really need to get around to watching it.

Alice in Wonderland again, but this time in the unanimated film. I've seen it before but not in a very long time.

I wanted this film to win for best animated film at the oscars, but sadly it didn't, though it still won the equivlant in France and many indie awards. Persepolis is a coming of age story of a girl in the midst of the Iranian Revolution, I would love to see this, being Iranian myself, I think animation was a nice way to put this bit of history.

5. And a last thing to do is read Geat Expectations by Charles Dickens for school.

And now it's time for me to begin those things, but I will post as my break continues. And again sorry for the long wait!

Morning Bloggers!
There's nothing better than taking a break from biology on Saturday mornings to do some blogging. This is the second consecutive week I have been able to post on the weekends, so this is a milestone for me, since I am very busy with work during the weekend.

About 2 weeks ago I watched Across The Universe, and the film was amazing.

The film was defiantly like no other. It was a tribute to the Beatles, every song being by them, and it was very well done. If you grew up during the 60's you'll probably appreciate the movie, more than the rest of us can, but it is still enjoyable for the rest.

There were some really great singers and actors in the film.

Maybe it's only me but Daniel Radcliffe, better known as J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter greatly resembles the famous John Lennon. I see it.

Now I'm off to go study more biology, but be sure to watch SNL with Ellen Page and Wilco tonight! It's sure to be great.

Live From New York, It's Saturday Night!

I've only got a few moments to spare from my packed weekend of tons and tons of work, but I thought I needed to post about the monumental airing of SNL.

Finally Saturday Night Live is back from the writer's strike, making my homework filled Saturday nights a bit more enjoyable.

Though I have to admit, the show wasn't as funny as I expected it to be, but maybe my expectations are just a bit too high. However I did have some enjoyable parts, especially weekend update.

And for more exciting SNL news, how about a new cast member?!
That's right I guess the writer's strike kicked in the need for a new cast member, and they got one, Casey Wilson. I can't say much about her yet, she hasn't had very big parts, but hey if she's on SNL I'm sure she's pretty funny.

And sad news, there's rumors going around that Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph may not return next season, I don't think there's anyone who can replace those ladies.

Hey Bloggies, I've come to update you with a movie

I am no fan of old movies, but I just recently saw a TV showing of "Love With a Proper Stranger" and I loved it! It was really well done. The film is about 44 years old, released on Christmas in 1963, it was also was nominated for 5 Oscars.

The movie takes a look at 2 strangers and the odd times they go through finding their place. I recommend the film even if you're not a fan of old movies, I'm usually not and I still adored it. Another thing to adore is the head actor, Steve Mcqueen who looks just amazing in the film.

I love his old fashion oh so handsome look, but he wasn't the only character to adore there was also the gorgeous Natalie Wood.

Natalie Wood's beauty is astounding, and she has a classic fashion sense to follow. Her fashion is very of the era, and very lovely.

One year and 76 posts later!

Hello Bloggers!

This past week a very important date passed by that I've just remembered. Last Tuesday on the 15th of January of 2008 was the one year anniversary of Sun and Tan. I started January 15th of 2007! I'm really excited that I have been able to keep up with the blog for this long, and I don't plan on going anywhere soon, so hopefully many more years to come of Sun and Tan! If I was old enough I would most defiantly drink to this happy occasion!

And to celebrate this occasion I've gone out and found myself the perfect dress!

Now it's time to thank all of you bloggers that I've gotten to know over the past year. I'm so thankful for all the comments and feedback I get, and I wouldn't still be blogging if it weren't for all of you fellow bloggers! Thanks for one fabulous year!

Well, school is back in session, and though my work load has been considerbly light, for some reason I haven't come around to posting. But I'm here now!

Because of the unseasonably warm weather I've experience days ago, I really got in the mood of spring & summer clothing. A favorite has been the romantic, fun, and fresh floral prints. They remind me so much of old wedding outfits. Whether in a skirt, scarf, dress, or top they are perfect outfits for the upcoming (actual) spring.

So, with all the free time I have on my hands during my marvelous winter break I have taken it upon myself to read the 6th and 7th Harry Potter books. I know some of you must be absolutely awestruck at the fact that I did not read the books right when they hit the shelves, but oh well I come around to things on my own pace. And I am happy to announce that I have just finished the 6th book.

And in the spirit of Harry Potter, and Christmas, my sister bought me a JCrew cardigan that reminded me of The Gryffindor House. I really love it.

The cardigan has brass buttons, and though the red isn't the correct shade, it still gives the feeling of the Gryffindor house from Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Somehow Harry Potter, as well as a turtleneck I found at a thriftstore has got me in the mood for stripes. So I am on a hunt for some excellent striped pieces.

This is a simple striped Splendid T-shirt.

This isn't exactly the striped effect I was going for, but this is still a very nice striped cardigan by Juicy Couture.

This Rachel Pally Shell Dress is pretty neat, it's great with sandals, but would also work with jeans and boots.

I love these 2 colors together, and as you must know, I adore cardians, so this is really a great striped piece. UO

And for a vest - this is a more baggy, casual one that I really like. By Lux

Something that I have been trying to get into lately is turtlenecks. This Lux striped turtleneck would be really nice to wear a alone and layered.

This Nike scarf is supposed to be for some American Football team, but I like it because of the bold contrasting colors.

Now that I have sadisfied my craving for stripes I'll show some items I have acquired over that past month, or so.

This bracelet, though fake, I still like. My mom salvaged it from a Market parking lot.

My mom bought me the Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue perfume set that I absolutely love. This is my favorite perfume, and I have used so much of it from my mom I am glad to finally have my own.

At a neighbor's garage sale I found this awesome Swiss made watch for 25 cents. Though it's hard to see in the photo, the arms of the watch are a girl and a boy, and the watch has the olympic sign in it. I love this watch so much.

I bought this weaved rose piece from the Unclammed Baggage Annex for $1.49 on my day trip to Alabama.

Oh how time flies

Since Finals are nearing closer and closer this post will be short and brief, but I felt the need for it today.

Because of all the work I have to do I don't get a chance to watch very much TV, unless it's Saturday Night Live. But good thing I have a close friend of mine who keeps me informed on all I need to know. Just the other day, she told me of an indie film coming to theaters (actually it opened the 5th). JUNO, is the name of the film, and after seeing the trailer I fell in a deep, deep love.

And for the last bit of this post before I am off to conquer my work is a pair of boots that I have been eyeing for quite a while

I can picture my self in these boots. Oh, how I lust over them. But they a bit on the pricey side,not too much, just a little, but just enought that these boots will have to wait.

Boujor Bloggers!

Well I'm back from the my American Holiday Break of Thanksgiving. But, soon I'll be overloaded in work again, especially with Midfinals coming up, but let's enjoy this not so overloaded moment with a new post.

And what better to start my post of than with my usual talk of magazines.

This time it's about the December/January issue of teen VOGUE.

For the cover, one word describes it . . . AMAZING!

I felt like I was looking at a 1960's fashion magazine cover. It's so vintage and adorable. Though I don't know know I feel about Natalie Portman on the cover. She looks beautiful and I love the work she does not only on films but in charities and towards the world. Actually she did something for Discovery Channel on Gorillas and it was quite cool. But anyways, it just seems like I see her on many covers, but oh well I can live with her on the cover.

It seems like every aspect of Fashion wants to return to the 80s and the 90s, and teen VOGUE was no exception.

Inside the magazine I found "The Life Aquatic" section and it just made my whole month. It was a total flash from the past . . . and I was in absolute love with it!

The 80s mixed with African designs were so bright and fun. It was the perfect thing to brighten up the dreary fall (going into winter) days. It made me long for the sun of the summer and laying out on the perfect sandy beach. You can expect me to be the girl laying out in her totally 80's bathing suit! Gosh, I can't wait for summer!

On to the 90s.

Oh My Goodness! Acid Washed Jeans making a return, I can totally see it. I'm not really liking them with heels but with some nike high tops they would be more than awesome. (Urban Outfitters)

I was thinking the Nike, but these Reeboks are a nice clean twist on the high tops, and they'll balance out the acid wash.

Sadly, as many of us bloggers know, at the start of the new school year many long time bloggers said OvwA to blogspot to focus on their studies. Some that have gone before us are the blogs that I first looked upon for inspiration when I had just started mine. They were some of the first to comment on my blog (yes for quite a few months I was posting basically to myself) and I am thankful to them, because they kept me going. And what's even more sad, is I've already forgotten many of their names, so I'm asking for a little help if any of you can give me the name and URL of those blogs and bloggers that have gone, just in case they come back. And so we always remember them, I will be setting up a "BLOGS OF THE PAST" section.

They will all be missed much.

Take some time off today and spend it with family, friends, or whatever. Have a good time, pig out, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Ahh, yes I found some time to blog!

HISTORY:
So almost every fashionable blogger has a deep and everlasting love for Marc Jacobs. But to tell the truth, I've never really known much about him, so I decided to do a little report on him.

MARC JACOBS

The desire of many of your obsessions began April 9, 1963. He was born in the big Apple, New York City. After Art and Design school he entered Parson's School of Design in 1981. Not surprisingly, Marc Jacobs was one of the best in his class. He received numerous awards including the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award, the Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award, and the Design Student of the Year Award all in 1984.
His first collection was a line of knit sweaters for Ruben Thomas, Inc, he did this still while in school. But his first collection that was under his MARC JACOB's name he started in 1981. And it seemed like a wonderful few years, because the next year he was the youngest ever person awarded with The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CDFA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. That next year he became head of women design for Perry Ellis.
But in fall 1993 Marc Jacobs and Duffy launched their own design company of, MARC JACOBS INTERNATIONAL COMPANY Inc.

If you didn't watch Good Morning America this past Friday morning, then you missed the story of the Subway Romance.

Patrick Moberg saw the girl of his dream on the #5 subway train in New York City. He never got the nerve to go talk to the girl before she got off, so in hopes to find her he told his story on nygirlofmydreams.com with a drawing of her and asked if anyone knew who she was.

Lucky enough, a friend of the mystery girl recognized her from the drawing and told him. The mystery girl ended up being an Australian magazine intern named, Camille Hayton.

The 2 united at last.

MUSIC:

My new music obsession was introduced to me be a friend of mine who knew I liked the Shins.

The name of the band is Band of Horses. There just another amazing indie rock band that was formed in Seattle. To me, all of there songs vary dramatically some sound like The Shins, some country, some very Led Zeppelin. My favorite songs are "Is There A Ghost" "Cigarettes Wedding Bands" and "Funeral", but all of their songs are amazing.

I've been in a search for a radio that will better go with my bedroom, and I had to look no further than my own basement.

It goes with my bedroom much better and I adore how it looks.

LOOKS and LOVS

Hey everybody,
Sorry, I know I've sucked at posting, but seriously . . . A TON of work! And plus my weekends are filled with Cross Country and last weekend was homecoming!

VOGUE this month was defiantly one of the better. The beginning didn't interest me much but then some of the photographs towards the end were amazing, and VOGUE worthy. The only article that you should skip completely is the the 7 Closet Classic, most of them were horrible choices.

Jennifer Connelly's photo shoot was amazing. This is my favorite one out of all of them, because I love the classic look of a 50's inspired polka dot dress.

This is one of the most VOGUE esk photos I think I have ever seen in any of the recent VOGUE's. Could it be that VOGUE (I always feel I should capitalize it) is making a come back?

Another great one with Phillip Lim.

This is on the oh-so classy look that I love.

And speaking of oh-so classy. How classic does Louis Marie de Castelbajac look?

Yet another photo I can not find anythin wrong with.

No doubt this is my favorite photograph of the whole issue, it's so creative and just amazing!

Now onto some past looks of mine:
This one was from a few weeks ago, I wore my amazing Old Navy khaki wide leg trousers, and an Old Navy (super old) white buttone down, with some navy keds.
Ahh, the trouser jeans return! This time I wore them with a Lux top I got from Urban Outfitters for my birthday last February, I also wore this with my navy Keds.
I wore this on Friday and I loved it. I wore a bright blue t-shirt under a navy 50% wool 1/2 sleeve sweater (old navy) with my old navy skinny jeans, and some awesome kicks.
I got these amazing, vintage Keds at a thrift store for $2! It looks like maybe berlap on top, but I could be wrong, they're just awesome. I love them so much.

Well, it's no secret I LOVE cardigans, and this one is just great. The longer more ragdy cardigans are very in. American Apparel

This Sheer Rib Raglan Pullover is really nice. You could dress this up, or wear it plain for casual, any way it looks good. American Apparel

This cashmere sweater from GAP is amazing. I love these colors together, very Gryffindor. hah

Wednesday I received the new Urban Outfitters Catalog and I was astonished, there was nothing I did not like. Although it did seem like the prices went up.
I'm in love with this style of shoe, and the color of these is perfect for fall. They also come in gold for something a little more eye popping, but I'm liking the dark gray suede pair. These remind me of tapp shoes.
I think everyone should have a pair of moccasins, because there's going to be a day when they go perfectly with your outfit. These Jeffrey Campbell moccasins are awesome, mainly because there in my favorite color - yellow, and I love the shade of mustard yellow, it's so pretty.
One of my favorite shoe trends of the season are all of the old fashion shoes that are coming back. This pair looks a little bit odd in the front, I think it might be too rounded, but overall it's one cute shoe.
These are my favorite shoes out of the whole catalog! I love these Equestrian boots so much. The shade is perfect, and I really like how they look with dark skinny jeans. Their price tag is not quite too much, for leather boots at least, but these will most defianantly not be in my closet (until sales).

post #66 - yeah

(I couldn't think of any other title for this post)

I know, I know I have been so awful not posting, but the loads of work I get are horrible! (yuck) Anyways, this post is pretty random just a bunch of different stuff so here goes.

First off . . .
I finally got my teen vogue magazine, and guess who's on the cover. Mischa Barton! Of course there's no denying her sense of style is amazing, but she's like on every magazine out. And wasn't she just on a cover of teen vogue.
Oh yes. Yes she was. August 2006! Come on teen vogue, some one else, please?!

Now onto the inside of the magazine . . .

I saw this adorable COACH ad. It reminded me of something . . . What was it? . . .
Right right right, those Kate Spade Ad's. I think it's the colors and tights that make them similar. We obviously know what colors are in for fall.

The sweaters in the COACH ad also reminded me of some sweaters I saw in Old Navy.
They are much larger than they seem and very 80's. I love them. At the time I saw them they were $26.50, but no they're $12.50, I need to stop by Old Navy.

Get these in big sizes and they could defiantly work.

NEW TOPIC: Past looks.
So here are some photos (that my sister didn't delete) of some looks I've worn.

Just an out fit I wore to school, and it's like one of my favorite looks. A cardigan I got from Goodwill last year, and my favorite jeans from Old Navy that I got for $2.99!!
I wore this outfit to my friends' Lauren and Veronica's Birthday. I'm wearing my sister's old Old navy shirt, some AMAZING old navy trouser jeans, a J. Crew vest from last winter, and some adorable wedges of my sister's closet.
This isn't one of my favorite outfits. My J. Crew jeans I got at Alexis Suitcase (a consignment/thrift store) for $7.50, and a polo I got from Goodwill. I love the fit of the polo, that's why I got it.
Wild Sunday Farms? Makes me love the polo even more.
The trouser jeans return, this I actually wore to school Friday. The cardigan is Ann Taylor and I got it from Goodwill. I wore this with some simple classic navy keds.

**I'm going to try to take pictures of my outfits more often, and make sure my sister doesn't delete them!

And for tonight . . .
Saturday Night Live! okay well it's over now, I kind of started the post before SNL and now am finishing it after ward but . . .
Last week I fell asleep during it, but I did see the hilarious short with Andy Sandburg singing to the president of Iran, it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen!

GG, Vogue sept, Alice -- ahhh

On Wednesday, for the first time in a while I had some time to kill, so I spent it watching the season premiere of Gossip Girl on the CW. The show wasn't too bad, but you could defiantly tell it was made by the makers of the OC, because there was some bad acting here and there. Overall the show wasn't AMAZING, which I really thought it was going to be, but I'd probably watch the next one (though I doubt I'll have time).

Anyway, I had some awesome pics of outfits I wore last week, but coincidentaly my sister deleted them from the camera (uhhh!). So instead I'll enlighten you with ads from this month's VOGUE. The issue was the biggest ever, and I don't think I'll ever find time to read it, but I did have a chance to flick through to some ads.

The GAP ads are my favorite out of all of the ads. They're so simple and classic. I especially love the ad with Selma Blair and Lucy Liu. But I think my favorite is the one the old ladie's leg over her head (i don't know who it is), the ad made me laugh so hard!

Chanel ads sucked! What is with that horrible tweed and penguin sweater. What happened to the classieness of Chanel. I don't think this is what Coco imagined for Chanel at all.

OH those Dolce and Gabona ads, they are always just so wild!
And just in case you couldn't see.

This is a way cool ad for Balenciaga.

I'm not sure what designer this is for but their ad is perfect, simple and classic.

Chloe ads are some of my favorite! I love the spacy, poloroid picture look of them.

Okay this Moschino ad was such a happy ad! This one is also one of my very favorites out of the issue. Gosh I love it!

I don't often see Kate Spade ads so this was a nice surprise. The ads were cute and whimsical.

I love keds and I love Keds ads, they're just so awesome! MB was defiantly the best thing that ever happened to Keds. (sorry about the picture)

Juicy Couture ads are always very fun, and this one doesn't let down!

I'm not liking this ad very much, it's just . . . awkward.

I don't know why JP Gautier chooses to do these kind of ads! They look cheap and odd!

I must say, I didn't exactly know how I felt about Vera Wang doing a line for Kohl's, but after seeing it I fell in love, it's AMAZING! The clothes are beyond pretty! Though they are still a bit expensive, they'll go on sale! (I'm loving that ruffled cardigan)

And speeking of new lines . . .
Target's new GO: International Flights of Fashion Designer is Alice Temperely! I'm so excited to go check it out, I saw her commercial and totally fell in love with everything!
, can't wait to see more! (no i don't know why my computer turned her blue).

So on Thursday I woke up late and had nothing to wear. It looked like it was going to be a pretty bad day. For some reason I went into my mom's closet and found this awesome tank. My mom bought it at a thrift store years ago. I wonder why I never noticed it before? Anyways, it pretty much saved the day for me.

And on to something on my wish list:
Like 2 weeks ago I saw one of my friends, Veronica wearing this great simple tank dress from American Apparel. So I went online to check it out, and I totally fell in love with the dress in yellow (though the black wasn't bad either)!!! It's so simple and perfect.

And while browsing J. Crew.com I found this wonderfull winter coat.

The pale color would go great with dark jeans! Too bad it's WAY out of my price range.

And on with the post . . .
Since I have about zero time for tv, music is basically the only thing I can fit in to my busy schedule. Yet even with the hundreds of songs on my ipod, sometimes I'm only in the mood for just a couple and lately I've been in the mood for . . .

The Shins
I used to listen to The Shins all the time, but over the summer I never listened to them. Then one day in my art class I fell in love all over again. Some Favorites include: Phantom Limb, Caring is Creepy, Girl Inform Me, and New Slang.

The Silversun Pickups started to play on the radio a ton in the beginning of the summer, and though I'm not a HUGE fan, I love their sound. Listen: Rusted Wheel, Well Thought Out Twinkles, and Lazy Eye.

I woke up one morning and could not keep "Manic Monday" out of my head. I love The Bangles clothes here.

I guess it was a week day thing because before Manic Monday, I was into Friday I'm In Love, by The Cure, and there's also Love Song and Close To Me by The Cure. And no, they don't look scary at all here . . .

I love Pete Yorn's song The Man, it puts you in another world.

I can't even list everything I can't get enough of by David Gray, he's so FREAKING amazing. But right now it's two that I'm always listening to: Please Forgive Me and Alibi

Puddle of Mud is probably one of those bands that I can't stand, but for some reason I kine of like Famous.

I believe I heard this band on a fellow blogger's blog (I will try to find out), and it's pretty cool. --Banquet

I don't know much about Led Zeppelin but I heard Going to California on 92.9 and it was super good. Gosh, they look so hott here!!

The last time I listened to Dido was about 4 years ago, but when I saw the commercial for Becoming Jane I just loved the song (Don't Leave Home), as well as Life For Rent.

Though I'm not a fan on The Counting Crows' newer stuff for Shrek and what not, I will never get tired of their older songs, like A Long December, Round Here, Mr. Jones, and Hanging Around This Town

Any other recommendations for music please tell.

Ever since my friend, Maddie's birthday, I've been totally attracted to getting peace jewelry, and let me tell you I'm not the only one. I've been noticing a bunch of peace signs all over my high school.

While looking at jeans on luckybrandjeans.com I noticed some peace jewelry.

I saw way more Lucky peace jewelry at Macy's but couldn't find any pics online! There were some great bracelets and whatever, if you know some other places with great peace jewelry please tell.

***I'm so sorry for totally blanking out this whole past week, but school started on Monday, and that along with Cross Country is keeping me very busy.
Thanks so much to everybody for the comments and advice about the J Crew Jeans, I love to here how other people would where things that I own.

I've meant to do this post so long ago, but I kept putting it off. During the summer I re-did my room with the help of some friends, and I just love it now.

BEFORE:

I know, I know . . . so boring! Though it was better than the horid green that was there when I moved in.

WHILE PAINTING:

I am so glad my friends helped me out, because just taping my room took almost 3 days! I owe them a bunch.

details:
I painted all of my furniture black. I like it way more than the puke green, it was before (gross!). I put most of my book on top of the shelf to make it seem taller, since it's not quite the height I would like it to be. The jars on the shelf are full of rocks I got on the shore of The Caspian Sea in Iran.

The curtains are just simple fabric I got from wal-mart and sewed (with the sewing machine I bought while I was there).
The photos are the ones we got in France at one of those stands. Then we got them framed in Iran.

I bought all the big frames and the 3 smaller ones at the local Goodwill for a great price. Oh, and I almost forgot to say. The VOGUE painting was the one I was working on forever, and I finally finished (kept getting side tracted). It's not that great but I love it (mostly because I did it.)

This was inspired by something Courtney Love drew and published in last years "Fashion Rocks" magazine.
I drew this when I was bored in Iran.

All of the magazine pages are from teen vogue (with a few from Bloomingdale's catalogue), and I tried to stay with the theam of fashion in other countries (at least in the top part).

thrifting . . . again.

So yesterday I went thrifting, I know I know, I'm adicted, but I can't help my self! I went to Value Village Thrift Store and got some running shorts, that I later found out had a whole in them (great . . .). I also went to a consignment thrift store called Alexis Suitcase and got these great jeans . . .

They're J. Crew Trouser Jeans that I got for $7.50. Here I'm wearing with an Old Navy top ($6.99), blue A&F tank ($10), and a bead bracelet I got while in Iran. The jeans are super comfy, and just needed to be mended, because they're a bit too long. Only problem: I have no idea what kind of shoes to wear with them, any help?

Getting in the mood of Ugly Betty with some chats with Romeika (A Room of One's Own), I am ready for the new season of Ugly Betty, and had to check out her photos on teen vogue.

As you might know, yellow is my FAVORITE color, and when I saw America Ferrera (gosh I love her name) wearing this gorgeous Diane von Furstenberg coat, I fell in freaking love!

Finally . . . after spending this whole summer looking for some sunglasses I found a pair!

I found this pair at my local Goodwill. The brand is Sunclassics, and I paid only $1.51 (I have know idea why they put that one cent there!). I didn't really like them when I saw them, but then they just went so well with my face, I'm in love.

TV: So during the summer it's depressing how awful tv is, but one show on abc family hasn't been that bad. GREEK the show about college students and their fraternity isn't too horrible, but guess who had a guest appearance on the latest episode? . . .

That's right lonelygirl15 has a guest role on GREEK. I think that's pretty cool, that someone who started a show on youtube is now getting to be on a show on television. Now I wasn't one of the people that watched her show all the time, actually the only one I ever watched was the season one recap, and for a youtube show it was pretty cool. So congrats to lonelygirl15 for hitting it big!

It's an adorable 2 button row navy wool jumper by Ann Taylor.

I know weird picture but I was trying to get the top.

Okay, so as a part of that huge phase I was going through signing up for every e-mail thing I could, ICONIQUE FASHION MAGAZINE" was one of them. And this time I actually opened to e-mail instead of deleting.

ICONIQUE is having the "Iconique Societás Excellence in Fashion Photography" awards. I decided to check out the nominees, and really like one of the photographers in particular. Her name is Samantha Bremer (hints, the post title), and for her photos she went with a clown/circus theme and they turned out amazing.

Indie Film Night

Last night, a couple friends and I had another one of our Indie Film Nights.

The two I chose for last night were: Driving Lessons and Mysterious Skin.

DRIVING LESSONS

I really only got this movie, because Rupert Grint (Ron: Harry Potter films, in case you didn't know . )was in the film. But it also got the official selection of The Tribeca Film Festival, so I expected great things. But I was sadly disappointed. The film was boring and didn't meet expectations at all. Rupert Grint (I dare say) wasn't even that hot in the movie.

MYSTERIOUS SKIN

I wasn't actually planning on getting this film, but I saw the guy on the cover, and he was soo HOT! You may remember him from 10 Things I Hate About You. Anyways I didn't know much about the movie or if it even was an indie film, until I saw the trailer, and the movie actually got Official Selection at a bunch of Film Festivals.
The Film was really good! One of the best parts was Joseph Gordon-Levitt being so freaking good looking. And also it was an amazing cast, all really great actors.
The film's storyline is a little odd and just like L.I.E., there's a lot of gays. Defiantly see this movie, it's so worth it.

The cast included Joseph, Michelle Trachtenberg (Ice Princess), and Jeffrey Licon, who you may remember from the Nick show Brothers Garcia.

The cast also included Brady Corbet.

TEEN VOGUE MESS UP?

While bored, I decided to look through the teen vogue website. The first thing that popped up right in the middle of the screen was a link to teen vogue's 10 best dressed for this month, so I check it out.

And oh how utterly astonished I was at what teen vogue choses. . .

#1.
It's understandable Jessica Alba (thanks anonymous) got number one wearing this Vintage Nettie Rosenstein, because, HELLO, it's gorgeous!

#2.
This is also SUCH a gorgeous choice. Agnus Dean (wearing Preen) looks just fabulous in yellow. H-O-T-T!

#3.
Now here's where things get a little iffy. This is Kate Bosworth wearing a belted shirt dress, and, well, nothing special, at all. How did this get in the top 10? I like the belt a lot, but the dress is okay and I would have chosen a different bag. There's no way I would I have ever put this on the top 10, there must have been some badly dressed people this month if this number made it. And before I forget . . . Yay for Kate, who looks so much better these days.

Jenny Lewis in Rodarte, I have just a few questions: What is this? Why is it number 4? Has the world gone totally insane (though fab shoes!)?

This is vintage Prada, and nice. I like the color, but it is WAY too short, and the back makes Chloe look like one of Cinderella's evil step sisters before the ball.

I don't care if Emma Watson has one of the most famous young roles around, and I don't care if this is Chanel Haute Couture, because this is A.W.F.U.L! No excuses!!! What is Teen Vogue thinking!?!(Though I like those simple shoes Emma's wearing)

I guess Keira didn't have to be on a runway or show to get best dressed, she just has to go grocery shopping. I really like this look Keira pulled of, and I am totally in love with that bag! I'm still not a fan of her.

Tallulah Willis wearing Kate Moss For Topshop. I'm not sure what I think about it, something tells me I should totally hate it, but for some reason I really like it, and reminds me of teen vogue (maybe they haven't lost all hope)!

Kate Moss wearing Vintage? I don't think so. The dress reminds me of something medieval, and though not entirely (uuhh) tragic, I wouldn't put it on the 10 best dressed, defiantly. And what's with those horrible shoes?

I don't think I could wear this dress my self, but it's really good on Emma, it gives her a more funky feel. I think it deserves to be on the best dressed, though tip to Emma: it's summer! LAY OUT IN THE SUN!

I really hope Teen Vogue just had an off moment when posting this, because it's like my favorite magazine.

Wait. Do you think this could be the work of the world's worst intern ever, Lauren Conrad? It could all be part of a big plan she has to take over teen vogue. I mean hello, she is on like her second cover already.

Okay I am SO totally sorry for not posting in what feels like forever (and I was on such a good streak before)! I've been so busy with painting my room (again), which I will post pictures of later, and a little bit of advice: NEVER paint your room by yourself, ESPECIALLY when doing stripes, it sucks so bad!!! There's so much I need to talk about.

Anyway. - - After watching a commercial for Mika's "Life In Cartoon Motion" album, I was captivated enough to do a post about him. Now you may have noticed Mika under FASHIONABLE MALE (sidebar), and I don't think I'm the only one who will agree that he is just oh so fashionable. As well as being MAJOR hot! And has like super great music! Could he be any more perfect?

So maybe, not everyone knows who Mika is, so here's a brief of his life: Mika, originally named Mica, was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1983, but raised in London. The 23 year old did little stints until he came out with his first big single, which you might have heard: "Relax, Take It Easy" (watch) In January 2007, Mika released his single "Grace Kelly" (watch) which was and still is a fantastic hit. And finally in February, he released his first album "Life In Cartoon Motion." Along with Grace Kelly, Love Today (watch), and Big Girl You Are Beautiful (watch), wich I used in one of my spanish projects, will probably go up to be a hit single. But his whole album is really just amazing! Defiantly look into Mika, the guy has like 3 and a half octives (whatever that means)!

I don't care how many speculations of his sexuality there's been, there is no denying how great he looks! Love the outfit!

Playing it down with some cool white converse, which I think a couple of friends of mine have as well as a fellow blogger (PBAW).

Suspenders, awesome!

OH NO! What's he doing with Perez Hilton?! Gosh, why does he do that to his hair?

Aside from Mika, there has been another break through performance of a fellow Londoner . . . POSH! That's right the most famous Spice Girl aired "Victoria Beckham Coming To America," last Tuesday and it was actually quite funny (you can see the full episode here on nbc.com). Thought at times I thought Victoria could be a bit harsh, her British sense of humor was fabulous! Or it might have been just me, since I thought knickers instead of panties was just absolutely hilarious! I do hope they air more episodes, but if you just really can't wait you could stop by her Spice Girls Reunion Tour. Now that will be a show to remember!

Now we all agree David Beckham is pretty darn hot, but come on Becks, tighty whities, - - you have more decency (and self respect) than that.

After falling in love with Mean Creek I decided to watch more Indie Films.

Some of the films on my list are(I'm not sure if all of them are Independent films):

L.I.E. - - LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY
Last night, my friends and I watched this movie that I had been dieing to see (You may have noticed it in the side bar under "MOVIE I NEED TO SEE". The film, was very odd . . . It was good, but odd and strange, but still very good. I recomend it. You can see the trailer here.

DRIVING LESSONS
After seeing an ad for this film and seeing that the main character was Rupert Grint, this film went straight on my list of must sees (look at side bar under "MOVIE I NEED TO SEE"). Harry was whatever, but Ron was the best character in The Harry Potter movies, and I can't wait to see his performance without the famous trio. Though he has had 2 TV movies, and one movie called "Thunder Pants," I think this one is different than those. Can't wait! Trailer is here.

GRACIE
Looks like Carly Schroeder has a thing for Independent Films. Carly, plays the main character, Gracie. She also played one of the main characters in Mean Creek. In the film, Gracie trys out for her brother's place on the varsity soccer team. From the trailer the film looks really good.

SOUTHERN BELLES
I think I heard of this movie on Yahoo!Answers. It's about 2 souther girls going to Atlanta. This looks like SUCH a funny movie. It stars Anna Faris and Laura Breckenridge. The trailer is here

MUSIC FROM ANOTHER ROOM
When a young boy delivers a baby and sais he's going to marry her, 25 years later he's trying to stick to his word. I really want to see this. The trailer is here.

This seems like such a different role for Katie Holmes. Looks like a good movie. Watch.

Let it Slip

So checking my e-mail the other day I took the time to open one of the Elie Tahari e-mails (which I don't remember subscribing). I opened up to a page with this 400 dollar, Miranda Dress. Of course the thin fabric of the dress is quite noticeable, and obviously a slip would have to be worn with the dress. The thought of slips brought me back to those I saw in Urban Outfitters months ago.

Urban Outfitters, and just about everywhere else, began having slips and nighties. And in honor of this expensive dress I thought I should show off a few.

This Solid Black Gauze Slip, is very simple and cute. I like it. And not to mention it is practically a steal, $11.99, and also comes in pink. urban out.

this Betsey Johnson Mixed Print Slip is more of a bed-time slip. here it is
I don't know why you would wear this Mary Green Mesh Flapper Slip, unless maybe more volume under a dress. Hmmm. . .

This Betsey Johnson piece is suppost (yeah I know it's not a slip) to be a Sleep Shirt, but is worn pretty nice here. Also comes in white.

If you don't feel like a slip, a romper might do. How about this Paul Frank Nadia Romper, I really love it.

This Betsey Johnson Intimates Babydoll Daisy Slip would be quite nice for sleep.

This Sparkle and Fade Parfait Slip is really nice, and can be pulled off as a dress with another slip under neath (shown above). Comes in Turquoise too.

Well, this isn't a slip, but I saw it and just fell in love. I love the hippy look and feel to it, very calming. Paired with some long necklaces would be great. Other than the necklace pictured above there is also:

Flipping through the new Delias catalog I was really impressed with the great stuff. Everything is at delias.com

A big thing this fall will most defiantly be layering with turtle necks. I really like the look, and can be worn so many different ways. The jumper is also nice.

I love how this trench is worn here, and also don't forget about those tights this fall. This outfit SCREAMS fall!

I am really in the mood for these flowy tops and skinny jeans.

I would go though all the logo tees, but there are just too many! I chose this one because when I was a little girl the La Madeline books were my favorite.

LACOSTE (Does anybody else's title bar not work?)

So watching my favorite part of The Wimbledon Open, Men's singles, I noticed a sponsor I had never noticed in tennis before, Lacoste.

In 1933 French Tennis player Rene Lacoste launched the famous polo. The crocodile on those polos came from a nickname he earned in 1927 when he won a crocodile-skin suitcase in a bet. A friend of his drew a crocodile and he had it embroidered on the blazers he wore, and later onto his new polos. When logos became huge in the 1980s, Lacoste really hit it big and now have a huge empire of much more than polos. I'm actually a huge fan of Lacoste Jeans.

Yesterday on Saturday the 7th of July, 2007 many historic events happened.

Venus Williams won her fourth Wimbledon Champion title. She won against Marion Bartoli 6-4 6-1.

French guy Richie Gasquet (HOT) lost against Federer in the semi-finals, leaving Federer to play against Nadal, who won against Novak Djokovic (HOT)

I love Djokovic's name, and just like the sports guy said, Gasquet was beautiful to watch.
Today, actually like right now, Nadal and Federer are playing fot the mens champion. Definatly going for Nadal, I love his capri style.

On another note, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria tied the not with basketball star Tony Parker, in Paris Yesterday.The wedding party was held at the Vaux-le-Victome castle. I think that's such a nice place to hold a wedding, though I heard it was really expensive. But I don't think that was much of an issue seeing how good her show, The Desperate Housewives, is going. The actress romes around Paris, looking so adorable as usual, but that is a really short dress. And finally the wedding day with loser fans trying to get a glips of the bride. I don't know I just think it's weird for people to wait for some body's wedding that they've never met. I could understand if it was the Queen or Princess of a country but no one else.
Paris really loves Eva Longoria.

LIVE EARTH
I devoted my whole day to Live Earth, and it absolutely rocked! I took notes on the entire show (I know I'm a loser), but whatever. Bravo broad casted form 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Live Earth had concerts in 9 cities, across 7 continents, and all were trying to raise awareness of Global Warming. I think it was really successful. Here are some favorites or one that caught my attention.

TOKYO
Rihana and Lincoln Park were performed in Tokyo, Japan.
I don't know what rihana was wearing it was like a black alien suit, with a martian jacket (kind of like the Jennifer Hutsin wore) on top.

Looks like Rihana's hair style is the hot thing in Japan, according to Kumi Koda.

Lincoln Park sounded good, and got the fans totally pumped.

SYDNEY
Aussie Stadium
Surfer/Musician Jack Johnson performed at Aussie Stadium. I love Jack Johnson his sound is very surfer laid back, but his performance wasn't that great.
Aussie Stadium was the first time I ever heard Wolfmother live and they were so HOT! Andrew and his band were one of the best, and I just have to say Andrew's hair is pretty wild. You can see there performance for "Woman" here. His sound is so cool.

LONDON
If I could have chosen any concert to attend it would have been London's.

Snow Patrol sounded really good and Gary Lightbody looked so adorable.

The Black Eyed Peas performed with Fergie and it was good, but Fergie sounded better alone. I loved Fergie's outfit. I think it was the perfect outfit for the concert, especially her sandals (which you can't see).
I was excited David Gray was performing, and he even played one of my favorites, Babylon. He sounded perfect.

I was even more excited for The Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform. They sounded amazing.
I have the biggest crush on Anthony Keids!!!
The adorable Scottish singer, Paolo Nutini performed, though I missed it. "What A Wonderful World"

Madonna, Madonna, Madonna. She was on fire. Sounded Incredible and looked so good. "Hey You", this was the official song for Live Earth. "Ray of Light"

HAMBURG
I was expecting a cool costume and major dancing, but I was disappointed, and plus Shakira didn't sound that good.
Hey, when did Enrique remove his trademark? He looks so good.
I was in the car when Chris Cornell came on, so thank God 92.9 was broadcasting Live Earth. Chris Cornell's voice is so nice I feel so good when I hear it. Watch. .

ANTARTICA

This was the coolest thing I have ever seen. It was totally neat that they got a band to be in Antartica. It must have been so cold! But the band was good and I liked them.

Macy Gray sounded good, and looked good with her shorter hair.

NEW YORK CITY
Kenna kicked off the Live Earth New York City.
KT Tunstall looked so cute on stage. She had her tank with a message, shorts, and metallic gold leggings paired with some white sneakers. I loved her nails and jewelry choice. She looked hot.
Leonardo Dicaprio welcomed Al Gore to the stage.
Petra Nemcova looked a little odd with her 2 braids on top, but she gave a good speech. I'm not sure If I would have gone with the outfit she chose, maybe something like Cameron Diaz, very simple and summery (below).

I love his sunglasses.

SMASHING PUMPKINS< This was the highlight of my night, The Smashing Pumpkins reunited. They played Tarantula, watch.
Okay, I lied another highlight. The Police Reunited, again.

**I went to liveearth.org and took the pledge to make some eco friendly changes. Everyone who did that got their name on the tv, or the screen on stage, or on the website. I saw mine on tv "Sara S. - Atlanta" It was so exciting.

I'm back after a tiring, yet so very exciting trip overseas. I got back last Tuesday, but this post has taken an awful lot of time so I just got it posted today. I was gone exactly 26 days and went to both France and Iran. Sorry about this post, it's kind of sloppy because I really wanted to finish it. I'll put up another post about with my finds in both Iran and France.

Thursday May 31st 2007
My mom, sister, and I took a 11:30 a.m. flight from Atlanta to Paris. Though the flight was not enjoyable, I did like the part when the passengers went to sleep and the plane was lit by the few lights remaining. That's when the plane was peaceful and quiet, and I was able to write and read Life of Pi.
France was so much more beautiful than I ever thought it would be, I am glad we went and saw so many memorable places.
It was kind of strange how some streets would give off the aroma of Chanel, very French. And the men were quite amazing. A lot of Iranians there. There were also a lot of good looking guys who were visiting, you found a lot of them on the RER and Metro.
There were a lot of schools from the U.S. on a trip in Paris, and many of them stayed at my hotel. You could tell who was on one of those school trips, by the way they dressed. The girls in jeans, t's or sweatshirts, and the guys in T's, cargo's or jeans. I found this absolutely horrible, because you can't come to Paris and dress like that. So I made sure that I dressed appropriately for Paris, everyday. And I must say I had some pretty nice outfits.

THE FIRST DAY

Our flight on May 31st to Paris, France.
Me in my seat. I have to say that flight, was one of the most uncomfortable flights I have ever been on. I couldn't find any position to sleep in and the plane was FREEZING!
This is our hotel, The Novotel. We didn't take this picture the day we got there, the day we got there was gloomy and cold.

Through a side window you could see a building with a strange modern grass garden all over it. I found it quite odd.

For dinner, we went to a Lebanese restaurant. We ordered mint tea and I'm pretty sure we were charged like 15 euros for it. Drinks were so expensive in France.
After dinner, we walked to the Eiffel tower.I wore leggings under my jeans, a long sleeve t-shirt, under a t-shirt, under a sweatshirt, under a jacket, just to keep warm. I couldn't how cold it was for the beginning of June.
The Eiffel Tower is WAY bigger than I ever thought it would be. It was amazing walking by it.

NOTRE DAME The Notre Dame was a very beautiful church.
The inside was amazing. They set out a book on a table so people could write a message to God. The book was filled with so many different languages.
For lunch, after The Notre Dame, we found a sandwich shop and had some of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Mine was a cheese that looked like Mozzarella and tomato with other stuff.

THE LOUVRE The first Sunday of every month, entrance to The Louvre is free, so we went on Sunday. I think everybody else knew that too because it was very crowded.
Through the entrance into The Louvre we saw the bottom half of the Pyramid du Louvre.
Behind my mom and me are statues by Micheal Angelo.

I really love Vermeer's work ever since I read Girl With Pearl Earring, and had to do a project on it. Here I am next to one of his pieces.

The Louvre museum is huge. We were exhausted and hadn't even gone through the whole thing. A highlight was defiantly seeing the Mona Lisa it was very neat, though I thought it would be bigger. Some other paintings were very big. Some would fill a whole wall. Others were hundreds of years old. The museum its self was built so well, with paintings on the ceilings, and a historic outside.

CHAMPS ELYSEE
My mom, sister, and I were lucky enough to travel to the famous avenue of Champs Elysee.
The entrance is the most famous part of all.
This is right before we left (the metro station is literally right in front of us), but we found somebody to take our picture.
There was a little sitting place at the opposite end from the entrance, where we sat down to rest. I finished Life of Pi here.

MUSEE D'ORSAY
We took the RER to the Musee d'Orsay. I liked the RER, because it was 2 stories.
The Musee d'Orsay was much smaller than The Louvre, but I liked it a lot better.

The architecture of Musee d'Orsay was more modern than The Louvre. Actually the place you see above, used to be a metro station and then they changed it to Musee d'Orsay, how cool, right?

One part of Musee d'Orsay reminded me of The Louvre, it was a room with the ceiling painted with ponies (above). I want this ceiling in my room.
Okay so I felt a little weird taking a picture with a famous self-portrait, i don't know it's like taking a picture with picture.

VERSAILLES
We took the RER to Versailles to visit The Versailles Palace. I actually only heard of this after watching Marie Antoinette.
My sister said I look like a CIA agent here. I think it looks like I'm breast feeding because my dress came up too much.
Walking around on the Palace grounds we found a lot of cute statues.

I absolutely love this picture, I'm even considering painting it. I just love how the trees lean in towards each other.

This is at the main palace, the ceilings were painted so well.

The chapel was a really wonderful part of the Palace. The theatre was as well, but no picutres were alowed
The Palace had many interesting paintings of The Royal Family.
The Hall of Mirrors was one of the best parts of the Palace.

THE EIFFEL TOWER
We went to the top of The Eiffel Tower.

It's kind of hard to see in the picture, but I sighned my name and the date in red pen at the top of The Eiffel Tower.

France was really nice.

Time for, IRAN
On June 7th my mom, sister, and I took a flight from Paris to Tehran. About 30 minutes before the plane landed all the women, including me, started to get up, take out their carry ons and put their trench coats, tunics, or chadors with their head scarfs on. I though that part was really cool, becaue I felt like I was a part of something, it was pretty neat.
We landed in Tehran around 8 o'clock and I was met at the airport by my grandparents. They were really happy to see all of us, and vise versa.
Our first full day in Tehran, was so HOT! It was probably the same temp as it was in Atlanta, but the sun beat down so much hotter there. It probably also helped that I was wearing jeans, a trench, and headscarf. Plus, they don't get much rain.
For the rest of the time we were there we didn't make the mistake of going out from 11-3, it was hottest then.
In Tehran, trying to talk to my grandparents I realized how much Farsi I had forgotten. I understood what people were saying, but it was hard for me to answer back. But my Farsi did improve while I was there, and I really want to try to learn how to read and write Farsi, as well. I actually now know how to write 3 words, my name, dam, and no.
We visited many places in Iran, not only Tehran. Like Ramsar, Shiraz, Gatchsaron, and Esfahon (or Isfahon).

Here's a Bazaar in Tehran that we didn't spend much time at, though my mom's cousin said you could find good things there.

Mountain - - Koo
My mom, grandma, sister, and I hiked up the mountain. We didn't get that far, but it was pretty.

Here's my sister, me, and my mom. The weather on the mountain was so nice, way cooler than Tehran.
The snow was really clean underneath so I tried some and it was really good. No wonder Iran's water taste's so good, it's all from the mountain.
We saw a family of Kurds at the top of the mountain. When I tried to get a photo as we drove by I only got the last person. Though, I think the photo turned out quite well.

My soon to be aunt bought us yogurt, drinks, and bread. Then we found this deserted place by a waterfall.

Ramsar, Iran -- The Caspian Sea

In Ramsar, the weather was cooler so even with the intense humidity the weather was cool. The Caspain Sea was nice. The beaches were really dirty because of some rude people who litter, but still, it was nice. At the beach we saw the section they give to women so they can get in the water. We only saw poles buy when it's hotter they cover the sides so the women can go in.
This is a little alley we used to get to the beach, there were pomegranites growing on the trees.
My mom was just so interested in this truck selling watermelons.
No it's not the rainforest it's the mountains in Ramsar. I know Amazing.

This is really cool they shaped something into the thing on The Iranian flag.

SHIRAZ, IRAN
My mom had friends in Shiraz, so we stayed with them. It was the first time we saw them in 10 years. This is us eating dinner, many people eat on the floor.
Smoking the hukka is a tradition in Iran. That was my first time.
Here I'm at the small bazar of Shiraz. I ended up finding more here than at the big bazar.
My mom took my sister, me, and Ida (my mom's friend's daughter) to this garden in Shiraz. Kind of like the Botanical Garden in Atlanta.

GATCHSARRON, IRAN
This is Gatchsarron. My mom has friends here, too. We didn't go out into the city much, but it looked boring to me anyway.
This is my sort of cousin, Freug (pronounced Froog). She is so adorable.
In Gatchsarron we went to a village called Aub Shireen, translated that means Sweat Water. We visited people here. I would have shown the photo with their kids and my sister and I, but they all turned out blurry.

SHIRAZ, IRAN, AGAIN
After Gatchsarron we drove 3 hours back to Shiraz and stayed with different friends of my mom. This is a photo of ruins of a persian palace.

This was the house of a famous persian guy, but I have no idea who.

In France I saw 2 guys on a motorcycle, but in Iran I saw 3, everywhere. I would think they would feel uncomfortable, but over there guys held hands with each other and weren't even gay. My mom said it was the culture. Definitely something I'm not going to get used to. When I took a picture of these guys I was in the car, and (as you can see) the last guy saw me, so when we had stopped at a different traffic light they passed by and he had his camera phone out, her probably thought I was a weirdo.

ESFAHON, IRAN
Esfahon is sort of Iran's Paris and it was the one place we saw a lot of tourists, of course none of them were American, but you could spot them from a mile away.
This is a famous bridge in Esfahon. It's name is Sio se Pol. Translated it means 33 bridges, if you count the curves on bottom you'll get 33.
The river it runs over is so clean, it's all melted snow from the mountain.

This is the entrance to a smaller bridge, I forgot what the name was, but at this bridge you could go out on a piece of stone in the water, but it was only like 1/4 of a foot deep.

The smaller bridge had more art to it.
On the bottom of the bridge, men would sit in the middle barriers shading from the cool, and listening to the men who would sing.

When we crossed the bridge of the smaller bridge there was a really small park and we saw this huge mob of ladies crossing the street all wearing their black chadors. In front of the black there's a girl wearing a jacket with white buttons, it's a really nice coat, just more for the winter.
While in the car I saw this bush shaped like a bird. Even has a beak.
Imam Square , this is one of the biggest squares in the world. It consists of two Mosques one of them is Imam mosque and I think the other is Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque but I have no idea. I actually thought there was only one mosque so I don't know which one I was in, in each picute.
I think this is Imam Mosque because online it said the Mosque has 2 turquoise buildings.

In Imam Square was also the Esfahon Bazaar. This is the entrance to the art section.
Esfahon Bazaar
Here we are at The Shaking Minarets of Esfahan. Now I was excpecting the whole building to shake like an earthquake, but instead a man climbed the stairs went up to the right pillar and shook the pillar, the left pillar shook a little in reaction. I was disappointed. Someone said you had to shake the pillar for about 15 minutes then the whole building would shake, but the man only shook for a couple minutes.
On the last morning we were in Esfahon, we took a walk by the 33 Bridge and saw these trees that were filled with bricks. I think they were sick so they filled the wholes, like in To Kill A Mockingbird.
On our way back to the hotel, we saw these manicans in a store window, we had seen many before, but we took a picture of these. This actually brings me to a funny story. The night before, we went out looking for dinner and I had decided to wear capri leggings with me trench, and make it more of a dress, because it was origianlly a dress. I guess I forgot that Esfahon was a little stricter because I was stared at by every girl and guy. Now some people liked it (the gross guys), and the rest just thought I was a skank. I didn't get it, my mom said they were okay to wear. I was so embarrassed by the time Ie got back to the hotel. I've definatley learned not to wear them in public again, in Iran.

TEHRAN, IRAN, ONE LAST TIME
After a one hour flight from Esfahon we arrived in Tehran for our last few days.
I woke up at 4:45 a.m. this morning so my mom and I went to Laila Park. She went to walk, while I answered questions to Life of Pi.
Here is the entrance to a square where machine guns were made. That's why you can see the machine gun in the left corner.

The Bazaar of Tehran was very busy, and very big. The gold section was absolutely gigantic. It was more than 5 stories high and consisted of SO MUCH gold, and some silver.
My mom stopped at a store to buy dried lemons while I took a photo of the line of motorcycles.
We took the metro home from the Bazaar, and sumprisingly it was really nice. Clean with a cooler, though it was packed. The women and the men were seperated on the metro and the women got fewer carts.
My mom's aunt Zara (head of the table) and her daughter (my mom's cousin, sitting across from me) Afsone took us out to lunch along with 2 of Afsone's friends (one's taking the picture).
Back at my grandparent's house, there's my grandpa making kabob.
In my grandparent's backyard they have 2 adult cats, one has 4 babies, including the one pictured here that I named Vaughn. The other adult cat is pregnant.

We left on Monday June 26th at 1:50 a.m. I can't wait until we go back again, but until then this will be the last post like this.
